After flying high against the Riverdale Raiders on Friday, the Trinity Christian Lions came back down to earth. Trinity Christian took a 59-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fayette County. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Trinity Christian of the 59-52 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture last Friday.
When it comes to explaining why Trinity Christian lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Gabbie Grooms. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. Grooms has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Reese Anderson, who scored two points along with eight rebounds.
Trinity Christian's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8. As for Fayette County, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-3.
Trinity Christian will take on LaGrange at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. LaGrange has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Fayette County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
