Pharr-San Juan-Alamo has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Edinburg Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1414th, while the Bobcats are ranked 579th).
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-35 loss to the Eagles. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's defeat came about despite a quality game from Hector Sanchez, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Rodriguez, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Edinburg was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 51-46 to the Cougars. Edinburg has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-24 record this season. As for Edinburg, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-11.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo was dealt a bruising 72-45 defeat at the hands of the Bobcats in their previous meeting back in January. Can Pharr-San Juan-Alamo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
