West Charlotte is 5-0 against Garinger since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The West Charlotte Lions are on the road again and play against the Garinger Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. One thing working in West Charlotte's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
West Charlotte pushed their score all the way to 62 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 76-62 bruising from Independence. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Monday (57), West Charlotte still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Elijah Littlejohn, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Littlejohn is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Blakeney, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Garinger, who are still winless after their fourth game. They were outmatched by Harding University at home and fell 71-31. Garinger was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-11.
The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: Independence's victory pushed their record up to 2-1, while West Charlotte's loss dropped theirs down to 1-2.
West Charlotte took their win against Garinger in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 72-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Charlotte since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
