The Aptos Mariners pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Antelope by a score of 69-66. Aptos lost against Antelope in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 67-47 score last time.
Aptos' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lawrence Ingram, who scored 15 points. The match was Ingram's third in a row with at least ten points. Johnny Cornejo was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Antelope to victory, but perhaps none more so than Juleean Alias, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Alias' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of SirMister Harriel, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds.
Aptos' loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-4. As for Antelope, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season.
Aptos won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Monterey on December 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Monterey is ranked 278th, while Aptos is ranked 261st). Antelope and Carmel will face off at 5:00 p.m. on December 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Carmel's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
