The Bloomburg Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Sulphur Bluff, falling 75-17. Bloomburg was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-6.
Leading Sulphur Bluff to victory were Dakota Klemptner and Matthew Overly. Klemptner dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 steals, while Overly scored 21 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Those 12 steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Clint Degen, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Bloomburg bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.7 points per game. As for Sulphur Bluff, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Bloomburg will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Queen City at 2:00 p.m. on December 28th.
