The Bullock County Hornets lost against the Valley Rams last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Bullock County lost to Valley on the road by a decisive 68-52 margin. While losing is never fun, Bullock County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while Valley is ranked 77th).
Trevone Palmer and Keldrick Fields certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Palmer dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Fields scored 11 points. Palmer scored a full 30.8% of Bullock County's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Davis, who scored 4 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Bullock County and nudges their season record down to 3-4. As for Valley, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0-1.
Bullock County will head out on the road to face off against Russell County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Russell County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Bullock County likes a good challenge. As for Valley, they will be playing at home against LaFayette at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully LaFayette focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
