This season hasn't been kind to the Brooks Eagles, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They were beaten by Marion 69-35 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Brooks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while Marion is ranked 188th).
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Macauri Sias, who scored 9 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Braylon Smith, who scored 6 points along with 5 assists.
Brooks' defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-4. As for Marion, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brooks will take on North Lawndale at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Marion, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Mater Dei at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Mater Dei focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
