Canton and Towanda are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Canton Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Towanda Black Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Canton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Canton didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Galeton, but they still walked away with a 43-38 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Canton has managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ben Fitch, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. The game was Fitch's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Brayden Vroman was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Towanda's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 67-57 to Sayre. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
The victory makes it two in a row for Canton and bumps their season record up to 2-2. As for Towanda, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Canton came up short against Towanda in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 59-53. Can Canton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
