Nelson will be playing in front of their home fans against the Oregon City Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Nelson entered their tilt with Caldera with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Nelson blew past Caldera 84-58. Given Nelson's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Caldera is ranked 123rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nelson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sam Lewis led the charge by scoring 23 points along with 8 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lewis has scored at least 25% of Nelson's points. Another player making a difference was Braylon Gaines, who scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds.
Even though Oregon City has not done well against Westview recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Oregon City took down Westview 56-39.
Their wins bumped Nelson to 3-0 and Caldera to 1-2.
Nelson suffered a grim 68-48 defeat to Oregon City in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Will Nelson have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
