It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Deerfield-Windsor had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against the Westfield School Hornets by a score of 26-14. The victory was just business as usual for the Knights, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.
Lane Sceals continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 278 yards and one touchdown while completing 79.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 37 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024. Turner Simmons was another key player, rushing for 69 yards and one score on only nine carries.
Despite the loss, Westfield School still got an impressive performance from Brock Johnson, who rushed for 73 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries, and also threw for 142 yards on 11 of 20 attempts.
Deerfield-Windsor's win bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Westfield School, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Looking ahead, Deerfield-Windsor will face off against John Milledge Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 31 points in their last seven contests. Westfield School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
