The Rising Sun Shiners pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 81-55 defeat at the hands of Oldenburg Academy. Rising Sun was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Oldenburg Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Rising Sun's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Shorten, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Shorten continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brody Morris, who scored 13 points along with five assists.
Rising Sun's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Oldenburg Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Rising Sun and Trinity Lutheran will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Oldenburg Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Franklin County at 1:30 p.m. on December 30th.
