The Hermantown Hawks waltzed into their contest Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They rang in the new year with a 94-83 victory over Becker. Hermantown's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Becker's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Peterson, who scored 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyan Blomquist, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds.
Hermantown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Becker, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Hermantown will be playing at home against Duluth East at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Duluth East is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Becker, they will head out on the road to face off against Zimmerman at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Zimmerman's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
