It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Norwalk Bears ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against Staples by a score of 78-71. Winning may never get old, but Norwalk sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Despite the loss, Staples still got an impressive performance from Sam Clachko, who scored 28 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Clachko has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Udell, who scored 16 points along with six assists.
Norwalk's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Staples, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norwalk will challenge Ridgefield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ridgefield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Norwalk in Connecticut (Ridgefield is ranked sixth, while Norwalk is ranked 57th). As for Staples, they will head out on the road to challenge Stamford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Stamford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Staples likes a good challenge.
