The biggest upset of the week belonged to Westlake, who took down 87th ranked Avon Lake, 28-21.
Brecksville-Broadview Heights extended the longest winning streak in Southwestern this week by beating Steele, 35-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Brecksville-Broadview Heights' dynamic duo of Tom Tupa and Tim Tupa proved tough for the Comets to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Tupa threw for 327 yards and five touchdowns and Tupa had 156 yards receiving. Tyler Tarnowski helped Brecksville-Broadview Heights' passing attack out by catching six balls for 88 yards.
Eric Lamb was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 23 yards on eight carries as Steele beat Steele. Justin Silva also contributed to the rushing game with 16 yards on the ground.
The Bees' Tupa and Tupa have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Tupa has thrown for 1920 yards this season, while Tupa, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 39 catches for 606 yards. Chad DiFranco's team's Jordan Irvin leads the league in rushing yards with 603.
Going into this week's game against the Shoremen, Brecksville-Broadview Heights' Tupa needs 80 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in Southwestern this week will be when the Demons take on Midpark. Westlake is in first place, while the Meteors are in third place.
There should be lots of points scored when the Bees and Avon Lake face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Brecksville-Broadview Heights comes in having scored 209 this season, while Dave Dlugosz's team has scored 257. The Bees scored 35 points last week as they defeated the Comets.
Mark Campo's team moved up to 165 from 237 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 28-21 win over the Shoremen helped the Demons improve their standing.
