The Staunton Bulldogs typically have all the answers at home, but on Thursday the Greenville Comets proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Bulldogs with a 50-44 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Greenville also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Greenville was led to victory by Katie Campbell and Emma Veith. Campbell dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Veith scored 20 points. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Shayna Henderson, who scored seven points.
Greenville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. As for Staunton, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenville is on the road again on Monday and play against Okawville at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. As for Staunton, they will face off against Carrollton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Carrollton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday.
