Baseball Recap: Ridgecroft Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

It's playoff time, and Ridgecroft had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders on Thursday. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 11-4 win last Wednesday.

Dawson Collins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Ridgecroft's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Noah Williams was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Forest Kea, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Ridgecroft is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.5 runs. As for Pungo Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.

Looking ahead, Ridgecroft will venture away from home to square off against Kerr-Vance Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pungo Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
