Oneida came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 16-6 to Carter. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Green Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Ben Sexton was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Calvin Smith also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Scott, as they earned their first away win of the season. They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over Sunbright on Friday. The Highlanders haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Elijah Strunk and Jaxson Terry made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Strunk pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Terry tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Strunk has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Strunk went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Terry earned one run and three stolen bases.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elisha Hutson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs. Another player making a difference was Micah Boles, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
The defeat was their first at home, dropping their record down to 3-3. As for Scott, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
Oneida was able to grind out a solid victory over Scott in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, winning 11-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
