The Tyler Legacy Raiders had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They secured a 74-68 W over Mesquite. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Tyler Legacy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Jones, who scored 23 points. Gage Nuckolls was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Tyler Legacy has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. As for Mesquite, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-15.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Rockwall-Heath the next time they take the court. Mesquite will host Rockwall-Heath at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Tyler Legacy will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
