The Gray Stone Day Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Christ the King Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Gray Stone Day focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 two weeks ago.
Gray Stone Day had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were outmatched by West Stanly on the road and fell 70-15. Gray Stone Day was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-5.
Gray Stone Day's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gabriel Young, who scored 8 points, and Evan Barber who scored 0 points.
Meanwhile, even though Union Academy scored an imposing 66 points last Monday, Christ the King still came out on top. Christ the King escaped with a win against Union Academy by the margin of a single free throw, 67-66.
Christ the King can attribute much of their success to Parker Ryan, who scored 24 points along with 6 assists and 3 steals, and Marco Tampoya, who scored 28 points along with 7 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Ryan has scored at least 25% of Christ the King's points. Another player making a difference was Cooper Ryan, who scored 9 points.
Gray Stone Day's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Christ the King, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Gray Stone Day came up short against Christ the King in their previous meeting back in January of 2019, falling 77-65. Thankfully for Gray Stone Day, Jaylen Steele (who scored 22 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
