Chapin has gone a perfect 10-0 against Jefferson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Huskies will be playing at home against the Silver Foxes at 6:00 p.m. Jefferson took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Chapin, who comes in off a win.
Chapin's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past El Paso 6-0. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Jaedyne Armendariz, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep El Paso off the board. Armendariz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Yaretzi Acosta was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Josy Jaime-Garcia, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Chapin hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Paso struck out 13 times.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Jefferson's offense. They lost 16-0 to Burges on Friday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Silver Foxes' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Chapin is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Chapin has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .546. However, it's not like Jefferson struggles in that department as they've averaged .539. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chapin took their win against Jefferson in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 22-2 score. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Silver Foxes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
