The Thomas Jefferson Spartans won the last time they faced the Evergreen Cougars, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Thomas Jefferson came out on top in a nail-biter against Evergreen and snuck past 44-41. Given Thomas Jefferson's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Evergreen is ranked 109th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Thomas Jefferson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Doren Sacha, who scored 10 points along with 6 assists. Owen Alleman was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Despite the loss, Evergreen still got an impressive performance from Drew Yager, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Lukas McCanna, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Thomas Jefferson and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for Evergreen, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomas Jefferson will take on Columbine at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Columbine focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Monday. As for Evergreen, they will head out on the road to face off against Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
