Morningside Academy has gone 4-0 against Greenacres Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Morningside Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stephen Moss, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Moss a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was AJ Chang, who dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists.
Morningside Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenacres Christian). They rang in the new year with a 71-62 victory over BridgePrep Village Green on Monday. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on three straight.
Morningside Academy better focus on containing Jashad Hymes and Brendan Daniels as the pair were huge in Greenacres Christian's win. Hymes went 10 of 23 on his way to 24 points in addition to six boards and five assists, while Daniels went 6 of 14 on his way to 16 points along with six boards and three steals. Daniels' evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rahmello Makonnen, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points.
Morningside Academy now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Greenacres Christian, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Morningside Academy has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Greenacres Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Morningside Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Greenacres Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 64-60 win. Will Morningside Academy repeat their success, or does Greenacres Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
