The Billingsley Bears''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Thorsby 55-20. Billingsley has struggled against Thorsby recently, as their game on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Billingsley's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Landon Jones, who rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 170 yards and a touchdown while completing 72.2% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Javaris Livingston, who picked up 83 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Grayson McManus went supernova for Thorsby, rushing for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 105 yards and a touchdown while completing 83.3% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Coden Cummings, who rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Billingsley's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Thorsby, Loachapoka, and Notasulga. As for Thorsby, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Billingsley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Thorsby will be playing at home against Chickasaw at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Chickasaw's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matches.
