The Pinecrest Patriots put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down South Garner 45-31. Given Pinecrest's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while South Garner is ranked 107th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Jaylin Morgan, who rushed for 33 yards and two touchdowns.
Pinecrest's win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 11-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.4 points per game. As for South Garner, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Pinecrest will head out on the road to face off against Clayton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clayton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Pinecrest likes a good challenge. South Garner does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
