Rockcastle County is 1-7 against Mercer County since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Rockcastle County Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the Mercer County Titans at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Rockcastle County is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
On Thursday, things could have been worse for Rockcastle County, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-37 loss to Knox Central. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Rockcastle County has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Mercer County came up short against West Jessamine on Tuesday and fell 52-42.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Izzie Carlton, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ak Drakeford, who scored 20 points.
Rockcastle County's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Mercer County, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.
Rockcastle County came up short against Mercer County in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 59-46. Can Rockcastle County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
