After each having a week off, the Cypress Lake Panthers and the Key West Conchs will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cypress Lake has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 136 points over their last three matchups.
Two weeks ago, Cypress Lake was able to grind out a solid victory over Mariner, taking the game 44-34. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Tritons: they've now won six in a row.
Nolan McKinnon was the offensive standout of the game as he picked up 89 receiving yards and one TD. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 64 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Burdette, who picked up 88 receiving yards and one score.
Cypress Lake didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Mariner to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Panthers hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.5 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Cypress Lake didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Burdette and Audrique Noel. Another thorn in Mariner's side was Daniel Johnson, who picked up two sacks and made nine total tackles.
Meanwhile, Key West came up short against University Christian two weeks ago and fell 35-22.
Cypress Lake will have to contain Walson Morin as he made an impact in Key West's last game. He rushed for 107 yards and one touchdown. Morin's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 105 rushing yards. Jeff Dejean was in the mix as well, providing Key West with two TDs.
Cypress Lake's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Key West, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.
Cypress Lake came out on top in a nail-biter against Key West in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, sneaking past 24-21. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Conchs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
