When it comes to explaining why Cypress Creek lost, one person who can't be blamed is Malachi Askin. Despite the final result, he rushed for 205 yards and two touchdowns. Askin was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards.
Zephyrhills was led to victory by DJ Pickett and Brendyn Colella. Pickett picked up 108 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Colella threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.
Cypress Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Zephyrhills, they have yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 8-3 record.
Cypress Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Zephyrhills will head out on the road to face off against Vanguard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Vanguard presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Zephyrhills in Florida (Vanguard is ranked 50th, while Zephyrhills is ranked 125th).
