Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Great Oak Wolfpack, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They suffered a rough 46-21 defeat at the hands of La Serna on Friday. Great Oak's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Great Oak's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being James (jt) Trevino, who threw for 55 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Among those leading the charge was Owen Long, who rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns. CJ Ceron made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Great Oak's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for La Serna, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Great Oak does not have any more games scheduled as of now. La Serna will head out on the road to face off against Trabuco Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games.
