Cedar is 2-8 against Desert Hills since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Reds will host the Thunder at 3:00 p.m. Cedar has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Cedar is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Crimson Cliffs. That's two games in a row now that the Reds have lost by exactly two runs.
Cedar got a big performance out of Collin Corry, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Krew Giles, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Desert Hills made easy work of Hurricane on Friday and carried off a 14-6 win. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
Andrew Wiley tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Isaac Swanson was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Fillmore, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Desert Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Desert Hills pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Cedar, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Cedar hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Desert Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Cedar couldn't quite get it done against Desert Hills when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-8. Will the Reds have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
