The Eastside Eagles lost against the Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Eastside fell 64-53 to Blue Ridge. That's two games in a row now that Eastside has lost by exactly 11 points.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Laila Harvey, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harvey has scored all season. Kaylan Hickman was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Blue Ridge had a senior duo take command as Zikira henderson scored 21 points along with two steals and Claire Skinner scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Henderson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Anyah Henderson, who scored eight points along with eight assists.
Eastside has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for Blue Ridge, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-3.
Eastside will head out on the road to challenge Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Riverside's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Blue Ridge, they will be playing at home against Broome at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
