Baseball Game Preview: Fossil Ridge SaberCats vs. Fort Collins Lambkins

For the second straight game, Fossil Ridge will face off against Fort Collins. Fossil Ridge will square off against Fort Collins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fossil Ridge has four straight victories, Fort Collins has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Fossil Ridge had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Fort Collins on Tuesday. Fossil Ridge blew past Fort Collins 13-3. That looming 13-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the SaberCats yet this season.

Tyler Kephart made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Fossil Ridge got a massive performance out of Mason Griffin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Griffin has posted since back in April of 2024. Brady Bradford was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Fossil Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Fort Collins' loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Fossil Ridge, their record is now 4-1.
