After a string of four wins, Carey's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Van Buren Black Knights by a score of 8-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 6-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Carey's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Van Buren, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carey will square off against Bucyrus at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils are facing the Redmen at the right time seeing as the Redmen are stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Van Buren, they will challenge Bath at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Black Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
