The Veterans Warhawks were handed a three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Perry Panthers on Saturday. Veterans was the clear victor by a 92-68 margin over Perry. Given Veterans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Perry is ranked 395th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Veterans to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chandler Thomas, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 12 games he's played. Antonio ??Tone?? Scott was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with two steals.
Veterans' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-7. As for Perry, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Veterans will stay at home for another game and welcome Tift County at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Tift County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Perry, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Laurens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Laurens is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
