Sherman Oaks CES is 6-1 against East Valley since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Knights will host the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Sherman Oaks CES is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Friday, everything came up roses for Sherman Oaks CES against Lighthouse Christian as the squad secured a 42-14 win. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five games by 20 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Daniel Truong, who rushed for 139 yards and three scores on only nine carries. He didn't just play on offense: he also made six total tackles and defended three passes in addition to snagging three interceptions. Matthew Perez also helped out with an impressive 94 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sherman Oaks CES was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 256 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 227 rushing yards in six consecutive contests.
Sherman Oaks CES didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Truong. Another thorn in Lighthouse Christian's side was Nick Fuss, who made 11 total tackles (4.0 for loss) and defended two passes.
Meanwhile, East Valley never let their opponents score on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 34-0 victory over South LA College Prep.
Sherman Oaks CES better keep an eye on Ramon Palafox. He was instrumental in East Valley's win, rushing for 101 yards and one TD on only five carries, while also catching one touchdown. Palafox has become a key player for the Falcons: the team is 2-0-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Giovanni Torres, who threw for 115 yards and three TDs.
East Valley's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Zamone Magee.
Sherman Oaks CES' win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for East Valley, the victory got them back to even at 4-4-1.
Thursday's game might be decided on the ground. Sherman Oaks CES has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 211.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like East Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 187 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Sherman Oaks CES took their win against East Valley when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 48-26 score. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
