The GlenOak Golden Eagles's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Alliance Aviators at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
GlenOak only won by three when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 31-point they dealt Lake on Friday. GlenOak breezed by Lake on the road to the tune of 78-47. Given GlenOak's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Lake is ranked 461st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
GlenOak's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ja'Corey Lipkins, who scored 20 points along with five steals, and Reese Zerger, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Lipkins is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 16 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Mcelroy, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Alliance scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top against Marlington by a score of 74-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
GlenOak is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Alliance, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
Everything came up roses for GlenOak against Alliance when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 87-56 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for GlenOak since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
