The Marana Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Sunnyside Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marana is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Marana pushed their score all the way to 62 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Mountain View 67-62. While losing is never fun, Marana can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Mountain Lions are ranked 63rd).
Meanwhile, Sunnyside's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Tucson High Magnet School, falling 77-41. Sunnyside was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-23.
Marana has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. As for Sunnyside, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-15.
Marana couldn't quite finish off the Blue Devils in their previous meeting back in January and fell 65-63. Can Marana avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
