Braxton County fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took down Gilmer County 60-44 on Friday. That's two games straight that Braxton County has won by exactly 16 points.
Braxton County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Riley Hunt out in front who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hunt has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ryken Rutherford, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Roane County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight defeat. They lost to Independence on the road by a decisive 49-32 margin.
Braxton County's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Roane County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
