The Fleming Island Golden Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Port St. Lucie Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fleming Island knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Port St. Lucie likes a good challenge.
Fleming Island posted their closest victory yet this season on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Bolles 59-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Fleming Island's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was George Hamm, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Hamm is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Port St. Lucie came up short against South Fork on Wednesday and fell 49-41. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Port St. Lucie has scored all season.
Fleming Island now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Port St. Lucie, they dropped their record down to 17-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
