Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Pine Knights, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 55-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sharks on Wednesday. Pine's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Pine still got an impressive performance from Emily Shirk, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 20 rebounds. That was a full 59.1% of Pine's points, marking the 12th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Birmingham, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Pine's defeat dropped their record down to 18-3. As for Atlantic Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Pine does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Atlantic Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Berean Christian on February 9th.
