The Bonneville Bees's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 77-51 defeat at the hands of Blackfoot. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bonneville in their matchups with Blackfoot: they've now lost seven in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Bonneville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alyssa Harris. Despite the final result, she scored 34 points. That was a full 66.7% of Bonneville's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Bonneville struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Blackfoot's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaci Capson, who scored 16 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Capson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Marlee Pieper, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds.
Bonneville has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Blackfoot, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bonneville will square off against Hillcrest at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hillcrest is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Blackfoot's road trip will continue as they head out to face Shelley at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Shelley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully Blackfoot likes a good challenge.
