Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, Chetek-Weyerhaeuser should expect quite the challenge on Friday. They take on Spooner at 7:00 PM. Spooner will be strutting in after a win while Chetek-Weyerhaeuser will be stumbling in from a loss.
There's no need to mince words: Chetek-Weyerhaeuser lost to Hayward/Lac Courte Oreilles last Friday, and they lost bad. The score wound up at 7-42. Chetek-Weyerhaeuser were down by 7-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, Spooner got themselves on the board against Cumberland, but Cumberland never followed suit. Spooner took the matchup and then some with a 42-0 victory over Cumberland. The lopsides score is just par for the course this season for Spooner, who can brag about five blowout wins.
Chetek-Weyerhaeuser were able to grind out a solid win over Spooner the last time the two teams met, winning 26-16. Chetek-Weyerhaeuser's victory shoved Spooner out of the playoffs, so expect the team will have a target on their back in this one.
