The Canyon Comanches''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 34-27 to Esperanza. Canyon was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Esperanza apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Several Comanches players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyle Bayle, who picked up 213 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Corin Rynders, who threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Esperanza to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aaron Forsgren, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown. Forsgren is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. Esperanza also got help from Joe Nelson who showed off his sure hands for 129 receiving yards.
Canyon's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.0 points per game. As for Esperanza, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canyon will take on El Modena at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. El Modena presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Canyon in California (El Modena is ranked 154th, while Canyon is ranked 549th). As for Esperanza, they will be playing in front of their home fans against El Dorado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
