The Wenonah Dragons can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 69-56 victory over Midfield. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Leading Wenonah to victory were Jakerria Ringstaff and Samarian Franklin. Ringstaff dropped a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Franklin dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Franklin has scored at least 25% of Wenonah's points. Makyla Williams was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Despite the defeat, Midfield saw an underclassman step up: Kamiya Webb dropped a double-double on 24 points and 21 rebounds. Webb is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Lauren Stokes, who scored 10 points along with 3 steals.
Even though they lost, Midfield were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wenonah only pulled down six.
Wenonah's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Midfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Wenonah will head out on the road to face off against Center Point at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Center Point will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Wenonah is ranked 62nd). As for Midfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fairfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
