If the James Monroe Mavericks were feeling good off their 66-46 takedown of the Bland County Bears on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. James Monroe took a hard 53-38 fall against Narrows on Saturday. The contest was a 20-20 toss-up at halftime, but James Monroe was blown out by Narrows in the second.
Several Mavericks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Mann, who scored 8 points along with 15 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Cooper Ridgeway, who scored 7 points along with 12 rebounds and 5 assists.
James Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Narrows, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
James Monroe will be home for the holidays to greet Meadow Bridge at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Narrows, they will head out on the road to face off against Parry McCluer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
