The Hillcrest Vikings were the 61-4 winner over the Bluff City Gray Wolves when they last played one another back in December of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. Hillcrest fell 57-48 to Bluff City on Wednesday.
Bluff City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lakeva Applewhite, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was London Carson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Hillcrest's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Bluff City, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hillcrest will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Memphis School of Excellence at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Bluff City's road trip will continue as they head out to face Freedom Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Freedom Prep Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 396th, while Bluff City is ranked 146th).
