Basketball Recap: Oak Grove Piles Up the Points Against Montgomery Central

Oak Grove waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They claimed a resounding 93-47 win over the Montgomery Central Timberwolves. The Grizzlies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Oak Grove's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tristan Nunez, who went 7 of 14 to rack up 23 points and five steals. That's the most points Nunez has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Hurt, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards.

Oak Grove smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Montgomery Central's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brady Fowler, who put up 11 points. Christopher Curtis was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 13 rebounds.

Oak Grove's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.7 points over those games. As for Montgomery Central, they are on a 33-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-20.

Looking ahead, Oak Grove will head out to challenge Central Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.4 points per game this season. As for Montgomery Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Asheboro at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Asheboro has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 185 points over their last three games.
