Chagrin Falls can attribute much of their success to Lilly Stukus, who went 7 for 17 en route to 20 points and three steals, and Avery Russell, who almost dropped a double-double on nine assists and nine blocks. Those nine assists gave Russell a new career-high. Abby Kay was another key player, putting up six points and five steals.
They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Chagrin Falls was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Kenston entered their tilt with Mayfield on Wednesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 45-34 victory over the Wildcats. 45 seems to be a good number for the Bombers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Kenston's win came from a few key players Chagrin Falls will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aurora Young, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emily Grubich, who posted eight points in addition to nine boards and three steals.
Chagrin Falls is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Kenston, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Chagrin Falls has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 28.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Kenston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Chagrin Falls was able to grind out a solid win over Kenston in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 44-36. Will Chagrin Falls repeat their success, or does Kenston have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
