Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Pine Island walked away with it. They were the clear victors by  an  8-2 margin over the Caledonia Warriors on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won ten matchups by six  runs or more  so far this season.
 Luke Sems made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  struck out six batters over  five innings while giving up just two earned runs off   four  hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and one  double. That's the most  RBI  he has posted since back in April.
 In other batting news,  Landon Lowrie was  excellent,  going 2-for-3 with two  stolen bases, one  run,  and one  double.
The  win was  the sixth in a row for Pine Island, bringing their record up to 19-5. Those  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Caledonia,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 16-7.
As of now, neither Pine Island nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
