Warren County and Skyline are an even 5-5 against one another since June of 2021, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will square off against the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Warren County has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Warren County took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Meridian, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Mustangs on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Francis Shaffer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Warren County: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

Warren County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Skyline). They were the clear victors by a 21-2 margin over Manassas Park on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Jacob Morrison was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Morrison was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, McKinley Tolliver looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Cameron Kerns, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Lucas Kinnick also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
The victory got Warren County back to even at 6-6. As for Skyline, their record now sits at 4-9.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Warren County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Skyline struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Warren County skirted past Skyline 7-6 in their previous matchup on April 1st. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
