Daviess County's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Apollo 9-0. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly nine runs.

Not much got past Logan Mewes, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Apollo off the board. Mewes also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Daviess County is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-11 otherwise.
At the plate, Lucas Ward and Brody Brubaker did most of the damage at the plate: Ward got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Brubaker went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Brubaker has become a key player for Daviess County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 10-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Noah Ranburger, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Hancock County came into Tuesday's game having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over Tell City on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hornets have posted since March 27th.
The result came thanks to Dec Lewko's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jacob Shultz was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since April 1st. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Dixon, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Daviess County's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Hancock County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-14.
Everything went Daviess County's way against Hancock County when the teams last played back in March, as Daviess County made off with a 17-4 win. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
